Lacing On A Sunny Afternoon

What better way to spend your friday afternoon than with beer, moussaka and wheel building with your brother?
The wheelset is for his sixties track bike and he had chosen a vintage styled yet very modern set of bits for the project. Custom aluminium high flanged hubs, handmade in poland by Maciej at Mack Hubs; DT Swiss butted spokes, grey hard anodised Mavic Open Pro rims and italian handmade tyres from veloflex.
The bike is completed and turned out really great. I will post photos of it at a later point.
Look at the cut-outs in the flanges A style nod to vintage Campagnolo hubs. A good choise and a subtle touch of class in my opinion.

Style tip #1 Sunglasses

Here's a quick tip to improve your style:

1st: Go pick up an old pair of glasses from the bottom of your grandma's drawer.
2nd: Now have your favorite optician fit tinted sun lenses in them.
3rd: Enjoy your stylish and very unique retro sunglasses. very chic, very en vogue right now.

Just take one advise from me: Don't do as i did and pick the cheapest lenses available. Go for quality, your retinas will thank you!

Textures

I have resently developed quite a penchant for silk and linen. Blended as well as pure these materials add some very refinded caracteristics to your garments.
For instance check out these pure silk trousers from Ralph Lauren. The very thin and soft fabric gives them the most beautiful drape and a cool and airy feel when worn.

Another example is the summer suit from Paul smith. It is made from a blend of linen and silk where the silk gives the twill a rich and open texture yet it feels surprisingly soft, drapes well and have this subtle silky sheen. A fabric like this calls for smooth plain weave cotton as provided here by the the shirt and pocket square.

Last weekend i finally found the time to visit my parents and pick up my Suzuki. It took me more than three hours to drive this heavy old lump of rusty steel home.

Porsche 356 Speedster 1600 cabriolet

When I stepped out from the tailor after handing in a pair of trousers that needed letting out and hemming I saw this beauty parked under a spring green tree. This is now officially my new favourite Porsche model. And this particular one is very clean. Pretty good condition yet the patina tells that this is not just a showpiece, but a car that gets its share of kilometers under the belt ever so often.

My best parenting tips #1

I can't stress this point enough. If you have a kid you know that eating times are a mess of ekpyrotic dimesions.

 

First, get one of these hard plastic mats you user under office chairs and place it under your kids high chair. Pick one with a relatively smooth surface.

Now buy a small dust pan and an ice scraper. A set consisting of the following two simple tools will make your life so much easier!
Use the soft side for the fresh blobs and the hard side for the solid rocks of oatmeal that you failed to see yesterday morning.

New shirt

Ahhh. A new crisp linen shirt, made to my measurements. This time with a pair of matching boxers. I am so looking forward to the luxorious feeling of having cool linen embrace my buttocks on the hot summer days.

Repsol Honda

I can see this cool Honda from the window of my appartment.

I don't know anything abaut it other than that it is a Honda CBR(600?) in Repsol Honda Racing livery. Nice!

Shame about the missing belly pan though...
