Not So Local Rides: Tokyo

Just home from a school trip to Japan. This place is pretty wack. I managed to get some photos of some special rides for the blog. At least in my eyes they are - I suspect the japanese are becoming acustomed to awesome stuff everywhere. Almost every bike I saw was vintage and/or very customized. Mostly small bore singles that looked to be very fun to zoom around town. Very inspiring indeed.
Well, here's a pic heavy post. The last four photos are from Naoshima and Kyoto though. Not Tokyo.
Enjoy!

Bulgiers Bike Catalogue Scans

This has been one of my favourite places on the net for a long time. Bulgier has the veritable mother lode of vintage bicycle catalogue scans. And much more. Here's a small selection.
Don't miss the other sections on the site.

This is How We Roll

Yay! First HPV in 'Local Rides'. I have a deep passion for bicycles so this sight really warmed my heart. Respect for putting the entire family on two wheels and thank you again for letting me take your pictures. Also notice the matching helmets, nice detail.
Sorry for the extremely lousy photos, I am not a photographer and I certainly can't photograph moving objects.

Lacing On A Sunny Afternoon

What better way to spend your friday afternoon than with beer, moussaka and wheel building with your brother?
The wheelset is for his sixties track bike and he had chosen a vintage styled yet very modern set of bits for the project. Custom aluminium high flanged hubs, handmade in poland by Maciej at Mack Hubs; DT Swiss butted spokes, grey hard anodised Mavic Open Pro rims and italian handmade tyres from veloflex.
The bike is completed and turned out really great. I will post photos of it at a later point.
Look at the cut-outs in the flanges A style nod to vintage Campagnolo hubs. A good choise and a subtle touch of class in my opinion.
Hard work takes good food.
